EPA and NAFEM collaborating on ENERGY STAR verification enhancement
At a recent meeting with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Agency agreed to explore the expansion of a successful, NAFEM-driven pilot project that combines energy-efficiency verification and safety testing, eliminating the time and expense of separate, third-party testing. This approach was originally recommended by NAFEM in 2011 and piloted with steam cookers with strong success. An ad-hoc group of EPA representatives and NAFEM members are now working to develop similar, audit templates in the hope of expanding the pilot to other product categories in the near future.
