AHRI working to secure permit to import ACIMs with certain refrigerants into Canada
Canada’s Ozone-depleting Substances and Halocarbon Alternatives Regulations (ODSHAR) address the country’s obligation to reduce ozone-depleting substances as set out in the Montreal Protocol. Under ODSHAR, products with R-134A and R-404A will no longer be allowed in Canada after Dec. 31, 2019,. The Air-conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) is supporting automatic commercial ice machine manufacturers in applying for an essential-purpose permit to import products with these refrigerants after the deadline. NAFEM will continue to monitor and report on this issue.
