CARB considering further reduction of GWP limits
As part of its ongoing efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in the state, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) proposes to reduce the global warming potential (GWP) limit in new, stationary refrigeration equipment containing more than 50 pounds of refrigerant to GWP <150, effective Jan. 1, 2022. CARB will hold a public workshop and stakeholder meetings regarding the proposal this fall. It also plans to conduct a comment period May-June 2020 and Board hearing May 2020. NAFEM will continue to closely monitor these activities.
