CRA declines Sierra Club request to drop lawsuit over Berkeley gas ban
Berkeley, Calif. is the first U.S. city to ban new natural gas hookups to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As a result, the California Restaurant Association (CRA) sued the city, citing a negative impact on “high-quality food that meets customers’ expectations.” The Sierra Club and other environmental organization asked the CRA to drop its lawsuit, which the group declined to do. More than 12 other California cities and Brookline, Mass., near Boston, passed similar rules and Seattle delayed a proposed ban.
