USMCA ratified; implementation begins soon
President Trump signed the United States – Mexico – Canada Agreement (USMCA) Jan. 29. While Canada has yet to ratify the agreement, U.S agencies should soon begin to introduce regulations for implementing the treaty. It took anywhere from four months to two years to implement prior agreements.
“Passage of the USMCA is great news for NAFEM members,” said NAFEM President Rob Connelly, CFSP, President & CEO, Henny Penny Corporation. “Our members met with and reached out to elected officials repeatedly and collaborated across the manufacturing sector for ratification of the treaty. USMCA supports the 2 million American manufacturing jobs and 40,000 small- and medium-sized businesses that rely on trade with Mexico and Canada.”
