U.S. approves economic stimulus package
The White House and Senate leaders approved a massive stimulus package early Wednesday morning to help jolt the nation’s struggling economy in the wake of the pandemic.
The revamped Senate proposal will inject approximately $2 trillion into the economy, providing direct checks to many Americans, expanded jobless benefits, payroll tax holidays for businesses and loans for many smaller firms, as well as aid to states and hospitals. Meanwhile, Canada approved an economic recovery plan last week.
