East and Gulf Coast ports strike imminent
The master contract between the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the U.S. Maritime Alliance (USMX) that covers dock workers at all U.S. East and Gulf Coast ports, is set to expire Sept. 30 (at the time of publication). No negotiations are scheduled despite
NAFEM and nearly 200 other organizations repeatedly urging President Biden and numerous cabinet members to intervene to protect the economy and the millions of businesses, workers and consumers who rely on the seamless flow of goods through these ports. The administration has said that President Biden will not block a strike.
