State PFAS activities
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) delayed the Jan. 1, 2026 deadline for its PFAS reporting program. The Agency’s response to comments is included in its document center.
California is considering SB 682 that would ban the distribution or sale of certain PFAS-containing products, including cookware. NAFEM submitted comments opposing the ban that confuses PFAS with PTFE and could force cookware manufacturing, warehousing and logistics out of the state.
This and other state-level activity is detailed in NAFEM’s State Policy Map in the Advocacy Action Center.
California wants to hear from refrigeration manufacturers
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is interested in learning what products have already transitioned to ultra-low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants of <-10°C. CARB also wants to know about anticipated challenges to making the transition from HFCs to these refrigerants by 2035. The Board seeks input to its request for information (RFI) by July 31.
California climate action reporting requirements could be extended
CARB announced that it would not meet the statutory July 1 deadline for adopting CA SB 253 regulations that requires public and private companies with annual revenues of $1 billion or more and do business in California to report Scope 1 and 2 emissions in 2026 and Scope 3 emissions in 2027. The Board anticipates adopting final rules in 2026 and analysts speculate that it could extend the above deadlines.
