California considers commercial dishwasher efficiency standards  

The California Energy Commission (CEC) issued proposed test procedures, efficiency standards, and reporting requirements for commercial dishwashers used in the state. CEC will host a public workshop to discuss the proposal April 15, 10 a.m. – Noon Pacific. Remote attendance is welcome. Stakeholders can submit comments during the workshop or in writing by May 12. NAFEM will submit comments based on member input. Contact advocacy@nafem.org by April 20 to get involved. 

DOE restructures critical minerals and energy innovation programs 

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation (CMEI) introduced a new three-pillar organization structure to better focus on key energy and security challenges. The structure includes new offices of: 

  • Critical Minerals, Materials and Manufacturing  
  • Energy Technology 
  • Innovation, Affordability and Consumer Choice
