CBP processing IEEPA refund requests
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has launched the ACE/CAPE (Automated Commercial Environment/Consolidated Administration and Processing of Entries) portal for submitting International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) duty refund requests. CAPE Phase 1 is limited to certain unliquidated entries and certain entries within 80 days of liquidation. Payments are expected to take 45-90 days. CBP has not disclosed how many refund requests have been submitted, but 56,000 importers have registered and up to 330,000 are eligible to claim a share of the $166 billion in refunds after the Supreme Court struck down the tariffs.
