Member DashboardNAFEM regularly works with other organizations to advance the industry’s perspective with elected and appointed officials. Recently, NAFEM:
- Along with more than 40 organizations, expressed concern about proposed amendments to the Washington Department of Ecology’s Safer Products for Washington program. The changes would expand the agency’s authority and could increase manufacturers’ compliance burdens by requiring more information about raw materials and alternatives, accelerating chemical restrictions and, in some cases, allowing restrictions before safer alternatives are proven feasible or available. NAFEM is closely monitoring the proposal.
- Joined other members of the American Alliance for Innovation (AAI) in urging EPA to follow a consistent set of principles as it develops Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) risk-management regulations expected this year. The coalition’s core principles include:
- Regulate only to the extent necessary
- Drive decisions with weight of evidence and best available science
- Develop targeted, flexible and tailored measures
- Avoid regulatory overlap and achieve balanced outcomes
