October ’26 at-a-glance … supply chain

Port fees further paused

Following a letter from NAFEM and more than 200 transportation stakeholders, Treasury Secretary Bessent extended the pause on port fees for Chinese-built ships docking in the U.S. until Jan. 10, 2027. “Resuming Section 301 vessel fees at this time would add another cost layer to an already strained transportation system,” according to the signatories.

Chamber survey identifies supply chain priorities

A U.S. Chamber of Commerce survey of members across 12 industries, including manufacturing, found that companies face many of the same supply-chain pressures, including policy and regulatory uncertainty, dependence on critical inputs, workforce and production constraints, and logistics and trade friction. Respondents said these challenges are driving higher costs, longer lead times and greater uncertainty, while also highlighting critical materials, semiconductors and electronics, and energy systems and equipment as shared areas of concern. The Chamber will leverage these insights to help inform conversations with policymakers.
