Steel/aluminum tariff challenges continue
The U.S. Court of International Trade (CIT) suspended Section 232 tariffs on derivative steel and aluminum products imported by PrimeSource Building Products. According to the Coalition of American Metal Manufacturers and Users, of which NAFEM is a member, the order was likely issued as a result of an agreement between PrimeSource and the government, as the government feared the CIT would suspend tariffs for all derivative steel and aluminum products pending a decision in PrimeSource’s lawsuit. As a result, four new lawsuits against the Section 232 tariffs on derivative products were filed with the CIT in the past few weeks.
