NAFEM advocates for emergency funding for Postal Service
NAFEM joined a coalition of companies, industry groups and trade associations in calling for emergency funding for the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) currently operating at a deficit. According to Coalition for a 21st Century Postal Service, “The President’s desire to raise postal package prices 400% would backfire and cost real money for consumers and small businesses across America. It could also very well take the entire US postal system – a system performing admirably and at great personal risk to its employees to keep America going during this pandemic – down with it.” Coalition members said that, in 2019, packages generated $8 billion in profit and served to blunt USPS revenue lost to electronic communications.
