CBP postpones payment of some import duties
Members are reminded that the U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection (CBP) has suspended the deadline for some duties, taxes and fees in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Items subject to Section 301 tariffs on Chinese imports, and those subject to Section 232 tariffs on imported steel and aluminum, are considered “trade remedies” and are not eligible for postponement. For details, NAFEM members should contact their customs broker. More information is available here.
