President Biden creates science and technology cabinet role
Eric Lander, Ph.D., a mathematician, and geneticist, was nominated by President Biden to the newly created cabinet-level role of director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy. Lander, who has yet to be confirmed by the Senate, and his team will focus on five key areas: the COVID-19 pandemic, the economy, climate, industry technology advancement, and the long-term health of science and technology in the U.S. Dr. Lander is a professor of biology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a professor of systems biology at Harvard Medical School.
